Sir Peter Thompson Award

Tamsin Ryder2008/09 Award winner Tamsin Ryder

The 2008/2009 Sir Peter Thompson Award has been awarded to Tamsin Ryder of Stantonbury Campus.

At an award ceremony in November 2008 Year 13 student Tamsin Ryder was presented with a cheque for £1000 by MKTGC's former Chairman, Roy Nevitt.

Tamsin was chosen for the award because of her consistantly outstanding performance in Drama during her time at Stantonbury Campus.

In November 2002 Sir Peter Thompson stepped down after completing seven years as Chairman of MKTGC. Sir Peter led the Company through the construction of the Theatre and Gallery complex in Central Milton Keynes, its opening in October 1999, and its first three years of operation.

To celebrate Sir Peterís work, MKTGC's Board set up a bursary in his name, to be awarded annually to one outstanding student in the field of the performing or visual arts.

Each year MKTGC makes the award to a Milton Keynes secondary school. The school then decides who the grant should be awarded to. The purpose of the Award is to give a student a boost to his or her apprenticeship in the performing or visual arts.
